Amanda Cui, CPA, has more than 20 years of experience in corporate tax and in all aspects of a company’s tax life cycle. Having served leadership roles at two of the four largest public accounting firms and at two Fortune 100 companies, Amanda brings the perspective and deep expertise in tax needs and compliance in the public and private sectors. She is focused on creating value and driving quantifiable results to clients. 

Amanda has a strong background in tax with an emphasis on income tax controllership, accounting (ASC 740), compliance reporting and account management. She has experienced in leading and managing multiple client service teams with successful, mindful execution and commitment to quality and value to stakeholders. She is a recipient of multiple recognition awards for high impact and excellence in leadership, operation, growth and quality.

Most recently, Amanda was a Senior Manager contractor/consultant in the Big 4 public accounting firms, engaged in helping to provide services to Ernst & Young's clients in the areas of tax accounting (ASC 740) and transactional services such as discontinued operations reporting, intraperiod tax allocation and other client needs including  valuation allowance analysis, return to provision analysis, process improvement  initiatives and other projects.  She managed audit client service activities such as the review of income tax accounts under ASC 740, 10K/10Q footnote, and disclosure, including the review of effective tax rate, current and deferred tax provision, deferred tax assets and liabilities and income tax payable accounts. In addition, she managed co-sourcing and outsourcing tax service engagements such as preparation of tax provision and interim provision or EAETR (ASC 740 270 fka FIN18)  and  review of client prepared analysis. Although as a contractor, she had received an Ernst & Young Ovation award and Bravo award.

 

Prior to becoming a consultant, Amanda was a Senior Controller for GE Capital, where she managed all aspects of the tax life cycle from tax accounting, controllership, compliance (tax returns) to reporting. Amanda delivered value and forward thinking solutions, resulting in tax savings, mitigated risks and improved processes and controls. Highlights of her experience included helping the company mitigate and minimized BEAT exposure of $120 million and a significant amount annually with a high degree of transparency. She implemented efficiency and effectiveness in process, control, audit and reporting. Her contribution was recognized by GE Capital for employing strategy for legislative changes during a period of landmark tax changes and uncertainty.  She was credited for reconstructing and validating historical balances of aged unreconciled balances of $1.7 billion, $250 million and $100 million relating to multiple years across multiple businesses – a major controllership win for the company. In addition, Amanda led and directed the implementation of initiatives by evaluating tax operational processes and drove efforts on automation, simplification and improvement. Her efforts reduced redundancy, mitigated risk and improved and streamlined internal processes and control within the company. Her contributions earned her numerous awards in private accounting including the Finance Excellence Award, Restructuring Recognition Award, Above & Beyond Bronze for Stay Lean To Go Fast, Above and Beyond Silver Award for Clear Thinker and Standing Ovation Award.

In her earlier years, Amanda served as a Senior Manager in Big 4 public accounting.  She directed, managed and coordinated client service activities such as the review of audited financial statements and the delivery of tax compliance services of multinational companies. Her experience included the review of SEC filing 10K, 10Q, footnote, disclosures including ASC 740-10 (FIN 48) and ASC 450-20 (FAS 5) reserves, Valuation Allowance and SOX internal control and compliance federal and state tax returns. Amanda managed multiple teams for various client accounts from pharmaceutical, service, communications, consumer, technology, banks, gaming & hotel to other industries.  She has worked on multinational companies including Polo Ralph Lauren, Hunter Douglas, AT&T, Sanyo, T-Fal, Bank of India, Peru, Brazil, China, Trump Entertainment & Resorts, The Medicines Company (Novartis), Medarex (Bristol Myers), IPC Systems, Managed Healthcare and Schindler, to name a few. A proponent to delivering exceptional standard in service, Amanda ensured outstanding service & teamed with stakeholders on all engagements.  With her contribution to excellence, Amanda is a recipient of multiple High Impact Awards in Big 4 public accounting for going above and beyond the norm in the metrics of market leadership, growth, quality, operation excellence and people.

Amanda had also served as CEO to two startup companies, where she oversaw the activities of the whole organization and was responsible for the strategy, mission and organization of the company as well as maximizing revenue and teaming with stakeholders.  She had also mentored small businesses from accounting to growth strategies. 

Amanda was a cum laude graduate from Rutgers Business School and completed advanced graduate tax courses. She continued to enhance her skills in leadership and management by completing the Accelerated Management Program at Yale University, School of Management, Executive Leadership and High Performance Leadership Program at Cornell University, SC Johnson College of Business and recently completed Applied Data Science Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  

In her spare time, Amanda serves at her church. One of her favorite Bible verse is Ecclesiastes 3:11 "...He has put eternity in their heart..."  She believes that success, money, career and other things are temporal, but our heart is meant for something greater, i.e. the eternal things. God is the only eternal One that can fill the void in our hearts. Amanda also has two beautiful daughters.  Amanda enjoys cooking for her lovely daughters whenever she has time.
